Connecting Social Accounts
Connecting a social account is a two-click flow. From the Accounts page, click Connect for the platform you want, sign in to that platform, and grant AutoPersonas the permissions it needs. We handle the OAuth handshake and refresh your tokens automatically.
Supported platforms
- Instagram: requires a Professional (Creator or Business) account linked to a Facebook Page. Personal accounts cannot publish via API per Meta's policy.
- X (Twitter): any X account works. Reads tweets and writes posts and replies.
- Threads: any Threads account.
- TikTok: requires posting permissions; AutoPersonas publishes images and videos and reads your existing content for import.
- Fanvue: any creator account. Used for posting, chat replies, and insights.
What we read and write
Permissions are scoped to what each engine actually does. You can review the exact scopes before granting them in the platform's consent screen.
- Publishing: post, schedule, and unpublish content on your behalf.
- Comments and DMs: read incoming messages so the engagement engines can draft replies for your review. Replies are only sent after you (or auto-approve) confirm them.
- Insights: pull engagement metrics for the analytics dashboard.
- Imports (optional): when you click Import posts, we read your historical posts to populate the voice corpus and media library. Nothing is imported until you press the button.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the Accounts page at any time. AutoPersonas immediately revokes its access tokens and stops publishing or reading from that account. Historical content already imported stays in your media library and voice corpus until you delete it.
Token expiry
Most platforms issue tokens that expire periodically. AutoPersonas refreshes tokens before expiry. If a refresh fails (you revoked access from the platform side, the platform changed your password, or the platform's OAuth service is down), you will see a notification on the Accounts page asking you to reconnect.
Troubleshooting
- Connection failed: confirm you have the right account type. Instagram needs Professional + a linked Facebook Page; TikTok needs posting permissions enabled.
- Posts not publishing: check the Accounts page for an expired-token banner; reconnect if shown. If the token is fine, see the publish status on the failing content item for the platform's error message.
- Rate limits: every platform caps publish and read volume. AutoPersonas spaces requests to stay within limits; if a platform 429s, the action is queued and retried.
